On deck

With a length of 22 meters and a width of 5 meters, there is a lot of space on the deck of the Kleine Jager. The sailing ship was originally built as a deck ship, so with the crew accommodation under the aft deck. There is no superstructure on the deck, so there is an unobstructed view in all directions. The tarred wooden hatches of the past have made way for a steel deck, the sailing ship is also authentic. The deck is spacious and there is room for everyone: cozy together in the cockpit or stretched out on deck in the sun.

The rigging

The sails are hoisted and operated by hand. And, as before, the ship is not steered with a steering wheel but with a helmet wood. It is a special experience to send such a large ship with your hands around the helmet wood through the waves. When the ship is properly trimmed, send her with your little finger!

Sailing

Safety is paramount. The crew therefore pays a lot of attention to explaining the handling of the harness, the traps and the shots. Active sailing is certainly appreciated; Many hands make light work. It is pleasant to ensure that everyone becomes familiar with the ship. Sailing experience is not necessary for active sailing.

Families

The ship is provided with a high railing all around with wooden starboards so that it also offers good protection for small children. Children can sail safely and adventurously under the supervision of parents and crew.
